Our Mission:

The ALA chapter at Florida State University is devoted to supporting all students as they explore the worlds of Information, and Information Technology. Our chapter actively promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. We seek to partner with other student organizations to offer a dynamic University experience. Students are encouraged to pursue excellence in scholarship, citizenship, and in their personal and professional growth. Our hope is to foster engagement in the mission of responsible information management.

We Seek To Serve:

  • Exposure to ALA materials
  • Opportunities for professional networking
  • Innovative speakers
  • Resources for career and community
  • Discussions of current events and trends influencing information access, collection, and management

A Dynamic Future:

Realizing that the Information fields change in harmony with the needs of information users, we are a space for students to share in shaping their industry. Today’s information professionals can expect to work in in a variety of settings, including: Public, academic, and special libraries; entrepreneurial businesses; large corporations; consulting and research groups; legal firms; all levels of educational institutions; a wide spectrum of non-profit organizations, such as museums, archives and medical institutions; as well as local, state, national and international government agencies.
